Lower Back Exercises

Lower back exercises are one of the most important aspects of any workout program especially if you want to stay active into your older years. Stretching and strengthening exercises for your lower back will not get you any compliments when you are at the beach but they will enable you to feel better during and after any activity that you do.

If you are like me you probably didn't worry about your lower back when you were younger because it was never an issue but as time rolled on I slowly noticed that it was a little harder to get out of bed some mornings. Then it was a little harder to recover from some of my workouts and eventually I threw my back out. If it hasn't happened to you believe me it is almost the most painful thing ever next to kidney stones and giving birth (or so I'm told). Ask anyone who has had chronic lower back pain and they will agree that it is vital that you include exercises that stretch and strengthen your lower back in your workout routine.

If you're like me and you already have problems with your lower back or if you are just trying to stay ahead of the game and avoid them altogether then try some of these exercises.

Yoga and Pilates are one of the best ways to stretch and strengthen your lower back at the same time.
